CADFEM Design for Sustainability 2024 R2

Design for Sustainability is a central approach for engineers to reduce environmental impact and ensures compliance with regulations, leading to more efficient and responsible product development. It also aids in anticipating and mitigating long-term resource and cost challenges. New functions are available with the Ansys Release 2024 R2.

We're excited to introduce several new features designed to enhance Design for Sustainability (D4S), an approach that takes into account environmental considerations across a product's life cycle.

With the new Sustainability Graph Comparison tool in the Granta MI BoM Analyzer, you can now compare Bills of Materials (BoMs) and set baselines to make more informed, eco-friendly decisions. Restricted Substances & Sustainability information are now also available in the MI Gateway. This feature ensures that your material selections are compliant with global regulations and aligned with sustainability goals, directly in the CAD.

In the same way, Embodied energy and Climate Change (CO2-eq) values were added to Material data for simulation (MDS), in Discovery, to allow an early stage assessment of the environmental impact of a design.
